We recently joined the OPRF Chamber of Commerce, and have (so far) only great things to say about it!
In the two months since we’ve joined, we have had the opportunity to see a mansion in River Forest, a rooftop garden in Oak Park, ribbon cuttings, and get a little business done on the side. These opportunities are available to any business owner in the near west suburbs of Chicago, and we highly recommend checking out the chamber’s website to see what they offer.
What we like most about the chamber is the very authentic Oak Park feel of the meetings. There are prizes and giveaways, food, and a great mix of new and established business owners. Our last meeting (Business After Hours, July 9) was at Oak Park Apartments, a beautiful rooftop terrace that doubles as a green roof for a portion of the complex (akin to the roof on the Oak Park Public Library). The meeting had great food from Starship, a local restaurant, really interesting news about some Oak Park developments courtesy of Anan Abu-Taleb (Oak Park Village President), and updates on Chamber doings from the Chamber of Commerce staff.
Our Oak Park business community has a certain way we like to approach business and networking. Conversations invariably waver between high finance and high school sports, all the spirit of fairness and measured fun. Watch this space for more about the Chamber as we explore more opportunities; we’ll keep you posted.
